Is helpfulness evident nowadays?

I think most people would say that people nowadays have no knowledge of helpfulness, as this can be seen from incidents in public transports, like people not having the initiative to give up seats to the elderly in the MRT, or bus etc. This, however can be proven wrong, because of a number of experiences that happened to me.
I shall use one of my experience of people having helpfulness over here. I was going back home from school on the bus when i feel asleep. I guess i was too tired, to the extent that did not know that the bus reached the interchange, and went on sleeping. Normally, people would just walk past me without waking me up if they did not have the knowledge of being helpful, but there was this middle-aged guy who woke me up and alerted me that the bus has reached the interchange. People would say this people with the knowledge of helping others would be one in a thousand, but this incident had happened to me not just once, not twice, but a countless time. Hence the point here would be that there are a lot of people out in the world with a helpful heart, ready to help people.
I think that the reason being people not being helpful would be that they had helped someone before and that one person did not express his gratitude to him, and instead took him for granted, or maybe he got scolded for being a busybody, and this probably made the person feel that there is no people who would appreciate him for being helpful, and the next time he sees that there are people who needs help, they would not bother to help the person in need of help.
I think that there are countless number of people who needs our help and we should help them, and we should not stop in our course of doing so just because of some people who are unappreciative, and this brings me to yet another end in my short blog post.

La assignment task 2

Analysis
Point of view
This poem is written from the point of view from the poet. i think it is reliable because the author has first hand experience as to what happened back in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. He uses a helpless tone in the poem. from here we can see that the author wishes to do something for the young children in Vietnam but he cannot do anything. we can also see that the writer is an upright person.
Situation and setting
the place is in Vietnam, probably about 1967-1968, and I think that it is about the Vietnamese war, whereby the boys are being forced to go to war, which is the main point about writing the poem.
Language/diction
the language used here is rather simple and i think the reason for doing so is to reinforce the fact that the children did not receive any education. there is a repetition of the words "darkness" and "could we''. from here we can see that the repetition of the word darkness shows that the future of the children are dim and there is no bright future waiting for them, instead the word darkness shows that they would be lost. the repetition of the word "could we" shows the helpless in them because as much as they want to help the children, they know that they could not do so, and is using a last ditched effort to appeal to the government.
Personal response
I feel sad for the children, because they are the future leaders of the nations, but instead of giving them the education that they should receive, they forced them to move to the front line to fight for the country. at the end of the day, it will only cause grief to the relatives of the killed child on the battlefield.

LA assignment task 1

This war poem was written in Vietnam, Saigon, by Harry M Bechtold. He was in his most beloved country and he was writing a poem about how men abused girls working in the park to express his anger but was not able to think of anything. He looked at the television and the news was about a photo of a small boy with a helmet and an automatic rifle. It was only till then did he get his inspiration to write and pen his thoughts to write this poem, Children in the Darkness.

process or the result.

I just realised my last post is on March 16. and today i will putting in some last-ditched effort to try to pull back my ace points for the term. i will be blogging about my past events in the Nationals Track and Field Competition. the day before my 4oom hurdles race, I was talking to my friends," how nice it would have been if I had gotten a medal." and it was then did my senior said to me, "the medal is not important. The process is more important." I did not care about what my senior had said, and all I wanted was to get a medal for my 400m hurdles. On the final day, while I was running on the track with seven runners beside me, I got nervous when people overtook me and did not focus well on the race. As a result, I got eighth for my race. Of course when I finished, I was very disappointed with my result, because I was the sixth qualifier for the 400m hurdles race, and in the end I ended up being the last one to complete the race, but I knew I had not put in effort for the race, and I have nothing to complain. I did not focus well on the process and hence I did not get a good result, and hence I would think that the process is more important than the result. It does not matter what do you get in the end, but as long as I put in effort, I know I have nothing to regret.
The same thing applies for your studies. We must focus on the process and not the result. Hence, if you want to get a good grade for your subject, you must put in effort in revising and must not think that you can get a good grade without studying for it. Hence, if you want to get a good grade, and you put in effort, you can count on yourself to get a good grade. An example of me is that I did not bother studying for my chinese test. I thought that my chinese grade was good enough to get a A2, or A1, and thus I did not study for the test. Hence, in the end, I ended up with a C5. This is proof that you must study and not focus on the result. If you want to get a good grade, and you don't put in effort, you will end up like me.
Hence, I shall conclude this blog post with the conclusion that the process matters more than the result, and we must not be thinking of the result all the time, and don't put in effort. thank you.

attitudes of school-goers and the importance of self-control

today i will be talking about the attitude of people. people normally have a negative attitude towards their studies. i shall be talking about the reasons why people do not like to study. is it because of temptations in the world now? game-creators in the world now has a lot of talent, in creating games for people to get addicted to. even the simplest game can let thousands of people go crazy because of it, willing to spend thousands of dollars on it. they are blinded by the "beauty" of the game and they are willing to do anything just to excel in the game, so that they can have a laugh at their friends, but they do not know that what they are doing is actually very foolish, because their friends, who do not excel in virtual life, can win them in other forms, be it academics or CCA-wise. in the end, the people who are laughing at them will be the ones whom they have laughed at before. at an instant, they would find that they do not have anything to their name, except for just a materialistic name, such as the gaming expert. people may call you that, and you may feel good, but you do not know that in the inside of them, they are laughing at you, laughing that your dumbness to play around with the game that does not serve you good.
People of our age now has a great tendency to get addicted into games. this is a part where self-control plays a great part in our lives. people at my age have a great possibility to drop out of school, or they might go to school but not pay attention to their lessons, and all they care is about their games, their only thinking process is not about the lesson, but the strategy to win in games. and in the end, they will be the ones at loss and they will never find their way back in a pit of darkness. they also would have the temptation to skip their CCAs, a form of relaxation for them after a long day in school of concentration on their studies and CCA is the brought-about-relief to all, in terms of stress, homework, etc. however, the gamers will skip CCAs to play their computer games. i am not saying that playing games is not good for us. playing games is a good way to destress, but it will not be good if the de-stressing method gets out of hand. 1-2 hours of playing is counted as good enough, and then we shall focus our energy back onto our work. we just have to tell ourselves that enough is enough, and we shall study hard after playing hard. at the end of the term, when they get back their results, they will be able to play hard, and this is a good time for them to let down their necks and play hard, relax well and "charge their battery for the next term".
hence, the attitude of students nowadays should be a "you reap what you sow" attitude, no matter in terms of studies or games. you study hard, you play less, you get a broad smile on your face at the end of the day. you play hard, you study less, you get frowns on your face at the end of the day. self-control should never be forgotten. we should have a sense of self-control in terms of gaming, and we should not exceed the time limit. thank you, and that will be all for my post for today.

rules

today i will be talking about rules. recently i was on my way back home from school on the bus when i heard 2 teenagers talking amongst themselves. one of them was eating. the other person told him:" hey, dun eat here lar, later kenna will have to pay money one leh. i no money one hor." the other person told him:" aiya, you think they will ask us to pay fine meh? i just eat a little bit won't die one lar." upon hearing their conversation, i thought that since there is a sign on the bus not to eat, why can't we just follow the rules? besides, it is only just a few minutes away from home. we can just hold on a little bit, and then when we reach home, we can savour the food. rather than being sorry, i would rather be safe.
i shall now talk about an incident that happened to me. there is a link building nearby our house, and me and my friends would play soccer with some malay friends in the link buildings, since the link buidling was rather spacious. although there was a sign telling us not to play soccer, we did not bother about it, because the mentality: we do not care. there was this afternoon where we were playing soccer again, and that time, me and my friends we as usual, having a whale of a time playing soccer when suddenly a police car stopped just in front of the building and two policemen came out of the car. they did some interrogation, and after taking down our particulars, they went off. however, the fright that the policemen gave to us was etched deeply down in my memories. when he left, i remembered the policemen telling me that, as a hwa chong-ian, i should be smart enough to know what is right or wrong and by playing soccer in the link building, the stain left on the walls by the ball mark is counted as vandalism. should they require any renovations, we would have to pay the fines for the repair, and i do not think that this is something that my parents can afford. i shall try to exert self-control on myself and there is a right place for doing the right thing at the right time. we should not let a moment of folly lead us into serious consequences.
i shall conclude today's blog post about rules. rule is such a cumbersome thing, people would say, but can you imagine the world in chaos without rules? can you imagine a school of gangsters and "ah bengs" without school rules? it is rules that makes singapore the place it is now. we should be glad that there are rules, and should not be complaining about strict enforced on us. that will be all for my post. thank you, and we shall say hi soon.

Multiple Intelligence Test

I have done the multiple intelligence test and the results above shows that the eights qualities are equal. i think that this test is quite accurate because i the test results suits me. hence i will be talking about my interpersonal qualities. i think that this quiz can be used for people from all over the world.
i will be doing on an interview of the viewpoints on discrimination and prejudice.
Me: Hello, I am doing an interview on the viewpoints of discrimination and prejudice. Would you like to share with me on your viewpoints of people on discrimination and prejudice.
A person: I think that prejudice and discrimination should be taken away from this world, because too many people have been discriminated from the society. for examples, the black. in chinese schools, if there is an indian or malay, they tend to be scolded as black, and people would avoid making friends with them. If i were the person I definitely will feel d*** bad. i would not want to remain in the school, but there is no choice and I have to put up with them for 4 years. If I were the person, i definitely will stop schooling. I go to a school to persue an education, but not to put up with people scolding me and using different point views to look at me.
Me: how about prejudice?
A person: I also think that prejudice is bad. For example, there is a notorious person in your class. He always gets into trouble, doesn't hand in his homework on time, talks back to the teacher, receives a lot of demerit points, etc. and this is a theft case in the class, but it is not done by the person. However, very coincidentally, the person sits close to the scene of theft, surely, fingers will be pointing at him. If the person tries to turn over a new leaf, i am quite sure that people would not accept him, because of the wrong-doings he has done in the past. This is all i am sharing with you on prejudice and discrimination. I am sorry for not being able to answer more of your questions because i am in a rush for my homework.
Me: It's okay. Thank you!
